🌈 National Fentanyl Prevention & Awareness Day – Thursday, Aug 21 🌈

Fentanyl is Arizona’s deadliest drug — just a few grains can kill, and most people don’t even know it’s mixed into other substances. In Maricopa County, fentanyl deaths have risen 112% since 2019. On average, 3 people die every day from fentanyl overdose.

But we are not powerless. Together, we can save lives.

💜 If you encounter someone overdosing:

1️⃣ Call 911 immediately.

2️⃣ Administer naloxone (Narcan) if you have it.

3️⃣ Keep them awake and breathing.

4️⃣ Roll them on their side to prevent choking.

5️⃣ Stay until help arrives.

📍 Where to Get Free Naloxone in Phoenix

✅ Shot in the Dark (SITD) – Free naloxone, fentanyl test strips, and harm-reduction supplies. Call/Text (480) 442-7086 or visit sitdaz.org.

✅ Sonoran Prevention Works – Free naloxone by mail or local outreach. Call (480) 442-7086 or visit spwaz.org.

✅ Southwest Center (LGBTQ+ friendly) – 1101 N Central Ave, Phoenix. Call (602) 307-5330.

✅ Any Pharmacy in Arizona – Naloxone is available without a prescription under the Arizona Standing Order (Walgreens, CVS, Fry’s, Walmart, etc.).

💪 How you can help:

•Carry naloxone and encourage your friends to do the same.

•Share this post — awareness saves lives.

•Support harm reduction organizations doing lifesaving work in Phoenix.

•Break stigma — substance use is a health issue, not a moral failure.

🙏 Today, we honor the lives lost and fight for the living. If you or someone you know needs help, reach out. Phoenix has resources, community, and support ready for you.
