Happy Pride Month! 🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️
At one·n·ten, Pride isn’t just a celebration, it’s a lifeline. For the LGBTQ+ youth and young adults who walk through our doors, Pride month is a reminder that they are seen, valued, and powerful just as they are. Pride month is a time to honor the journey towards acceptance and equality while creating joyful, affirming spaces where they can celebrate their authenticity, expand their community, and receive support from staff, volunteers, and peers who share their experiences.
Throughout June, I invite you to reflect on the history, resilience, and ongoing fight for equality, equity, and acceptance.
💍June 26 – Anniversary of Marriage Equality
On June 26, 2015, the U.S. Supreme Court legalized marriage for same-sex couples. Love is love and worthy of equal recognition rang from the wedding bells across the country. Today, ten years later, we continue to fight to preserve our right as we see continued attacks on our community from nine states actively trying to undermine the recognition of marriage between same-sex couples. Although only the Supreme Court has the authority to overturn Obergefell v. Hodges, we should not diminish the threat that is real. ‘Cause if you like it, then you shoulda put a ring on it’
